Charles Street Garden is a specialty grower of three species of beardless irises. The versatile Japanese iris—Iris ensata—provides spectacular floral display for the perennial border or for a water garden setting. Our native irises, Iris versicolor and Iris virginica, are well suited for a wide range of growing conditions from regular perennial borders to wetland settings, rain gardens, and water gardens. These native and non-native species provide attractive bloom, offer additional texture, display fine foliage appearance from spring through fall, and lend themselves to both mass and accent plantings.

Our nursery has supplied irises to retail nurseries and landscapers in both Western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina for more than 15 years. We have also provided native irises for projects at the North Carolina Arboretum, the LEED Southern Living Showcase House at Furman University, and the J. C. Ralston Arboretum in Raleigh as well as for projects undertaken by North Carolina agricultural extension agents in a number of the state’s counties. Our Japanese irises have been included in many home gardens throughout the two Carolinas.

Mature container grown plants of the highest quality are available at reasonable prices from Charles Street Garden Iris Nursery throughout the year. We accept wholesale orders and provide free delivery within the region for those orders. We also welcome e-mail or telephone orders from individuals who may wish to pick up purchases by arrangement in Saluda. In addition, we provide purchasing opportunities by participating in annual plant festivals and other plant sales events in both North Carolina and South Carolina and are pleased to provide information and dates for those spring and fall events.
